The Festival Committee engages bands to play on Big Green for the weekends – usually two acts on  each Saturday and Sunday. We try to make these shows as lively as possible to get everyone in the marquee at least tapping their feet but hopefully getting up and having a boogie!

During the week we also have a performance   most afternoons on Big Green, The Polperro Fisherman’s Choir regularly put in an appearance on the Wednesday evening and we also stage a classical concert in the Methodist Chapel  on  a Sunday evening.

Anyway, so who`ve we got on for your entertainment this year so far?

Music has always been an important part of Polperro Festival. We’re no Glastonbury but we still like to put on a good show! On average there are about  50 different musical acts performing in the village over the nine days of the festival ranging from rock and pop to jazz, folk, classical and choral. We like to think there is something for all tastes.

Short Description

Playing a variety of rockin music, from, stonking rockabilly, to jiveable rock n roll,

Mad Dog Mcrea blend a unique mixture of folk rock, pop, gypsy jazz, bluegrass and ‘shake your ass’ music. From self-penned songs of adventure, drinking, love and life, to traditional songs of gypsies, fairies, legless pirates and black flies – Mad Dog never fail to capture their audience with their infectious songs.

Thanks to three storming gigs at Glastonbury 2013 (notably the Avalon Stage), the release of their official video ‘Happy Bus’, regular radio play by esteemed folk such as Mike Harding, and in no small part the utter dedication of their huge fan base – momentum is definitely gathering pace.

Black Friday formed in 2006 when singer and acoustic guitarist, Tomo, met mandolin player 'Party' and bass player 'Melon'. They later added 'Apples' on tin whistle, 'Jovian' on drums, 'Dr Bod' on electric guitar and the world famous 'Narvis Reptile' on the fiddle to complete the line up.

In 2011 they played over 100 gigs all over England and Europe at a variety of venues and festivals, such as the Maker Festival, Port Eliot Lit Fest, Electric Picnic in Ireland, Plymouth Folk Festival, Calstock Biker Festival, Burnham-on-Sea Folk Festival and Wimbourne Folk Festival.

The Broadcasts are a four piece, Alt Rock/Acoustic band based just outside of Cardiff in Llantrisant. Previously signed to indie label Right Recordings and released a double A side single recorded by legendary producer Stuart Epps. They left a year later to pursue things independently. Since forming in 2012 the band have played at the BBC Club, London in front of music industry professionals,

The hardest working rock band in Cornwall playing the best in classic and modern rock. High Voltage formed in January 2008 and ventured out on the open road in June just 6 months later - and we haven't stopped since! We have have been playing all the popular gig venues and delivering a quality show which has seen us return back for more as well as adding new venues every year.

So the world doesn't stop spinning and Cantaloop work on a similar principle. Their non stop tour, gig, tour, record, gig tour mentality is a source of strength and without it they may well have imploded, like many before them.

Cantaloop have always been able to adapt to the ever changing music industry volcano, yet they still retain their truly distinctive sound so whatever guise their music takes, you can still smell that funk! It's part of their dna and with it they've continued to deliverer their jaw dropping live shows which are an infectious blend of funk-hip hop-soul with floor-filling swagger that ignites and unifies crowds nationwide and has done since the day they began!

So never mind the retro bollocks go see Cantaloop Live!

The South East Cornwall 5 Piece, Sergeant Flint’s soaring vocals, burning guitars, energetic bass riffs and pounding drums, have kept them busy with private/public functions, parties and weddings since they formed in 2008. Their mixture of classic and modern rock covers from bands like Cream, The Kinks, Primal Scream, Snow Patrol, Kings of Leon and many more.

James Shead is a singer/songwriter based in South West England. His music is an exciting combination of acoustic driven rock & roll, delicate heart felt music with a powerful gravel voice which delivers lyrics of intimacy based on memories & experiences of his own and people around him. He has released two EP's, his debut release in 2013 reached number 8 in the itunes chart. His latest EP was released in September 2014 and was supported by a two week UK tour. James released his debut album "A Light For The Fires" in June 2015 which was supported by festivals and headline shows in London. James and his band will be playing extensively throughout 2015/2016.
